Scientific Name: Hippocampus biocellatus Kuiter, 2001 Common Name(s): False eyed seahorse Synonyms: Hippocampus sp. 5 not applicable (ambiguous synonym) Description: Easily recognised by the eye marks on the back of both males and females. Low coronet with 5 points. Short snout with raised ridge but no spine. Single cheek spine. Low eye spines. Blunt spines on tail rings. Female is generally slender in comparison with the male . Trunk width increases with age. Male with thick, prominent fleshy keel. Tubercules present on back
